Artist Bio
Rachel Dummer is a Milwaukee based fiber artist who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis in Fibers and Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2020. Her work focuses on bringing the centuries old tradition of weaving on a floor loom into the 21st century by weaving in new ways such as weft faced weaving as well as incorporating bold colors and intricate patterns. She is inspired by the patience it requires to work on a floor loom and purposefully weaves pieces that are highly complex and take many hours to complete. Her work has been featured in various group shows in the Milwaukee area at venues such as the Wisconsin State Fair Textile and Craft show, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Art Gallery and in the Kenilworth Square Third Floor Gallery.
